Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy is a time where couples come to work on communication, specific issues in their marriage, and/or co-parenting. The goal of couples therapy is to strengthen the relationship or if couples decide to not stay together, the work becomes strengthening their ability to co-parent. Couples of all relationship types are welcome in couples therapy.

The Gottman method and Emotionally Focused Therapy are used in couples therapy.

Gottman Method- this type of therapy uses research based interventions to helps couples improve the way they communicate with each other as well as how they address conflict. The Gottman Method is more directive in terms of assignments given to the couple in between sessions.

Emotionally Focused Therapy- this form of therapy explores the emotional connection and dynamics between a couple. EFT aims to strengthen the connection between a couple and create a more secure attachment between partners.
